Gary, owning your name.tv is great but not right for most people with more common names. I don't think watching web videos is necessarily associated with .tv. It's getting out of hand when you go to GoDaddy for instance and wonder wether you should also buy .name, .me, .mobi, .info. .net .org and .tv if your name is not available in .com then try .tv or even better, the fast growing .mobi I woudl actually recommend particularly for the "John Smith" crowd to create a brand new name that fits your personality and goals and turn it into your online persona with the .com
Best
@javierjrdg

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television

I can honestly say it never occured to me to own my own name but you've opened my eyes. It makes great sense. It also has other connotations to it, for example it's a committment of self belief in what we are trying to accomplish.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television

How crazy is it that people who work day in and out on the internet don't own their own name in .com by now ? btw are you friends with Richard Rosenblatt from Demand Media. He should be sending you a check for that ringing endorsement. Lastly, I think a lot of people are looking to the .me extension as well for personal branding.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television

I believe they also have a service of theirs that you can use to have GoDaddy negotiate with the current domain squatter to purchase the domain from them.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television

I went to Namecheap.com and their .tv domains are $17.99 a year.

I looked around for coupons and all I could find were ones for .com domains but none for .tv domains. So I think Namecheap.com is the best place to go for .tv domains.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television

I think short term it's a great idea. I think long run (and I mean really long run), TV is an antiquated notion. Maybe not for 10-20 years, but maybe .vid would be a better extension.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Own your Television
