    In his heart, I do not think that Gary is a "foul-mouthed-drunken-sailor". He certainly can do 650+ WLTVs without having to constantly curse; this all comes back to monetization and Gary is now moving into "media for the masses". There can be nothing more traditional than the printed word, and he must be cognizant of that if he wants to maximize book sales. Based on the WSJ article, this deal with Harper is more of a partnership whereby its to Gary's advantage to have books sell because that's where he's really going to make the money on the deal.

    Wow, I think you're totally missing the point here. 1) The editor will edit out any profanity or off-color items because it's a business book. 2) My whole point it how does Gary MAXIMIZE his ability to monetize his brand? For him to MAXIMIZE that in the business world he must keep the profanity laced-speaches and thoughts out of the public eye to help his business community value. It is what is is.

    Gary could follow the lead of hip-hop records and issue a "clean" version for Wal-Mart as well as the original, uncensored version.

    Good idea, not sure they would do that in the world of print media, maybe for the e-book?

    Nonetheless my overall point is I don't believe cursing is essential and integral to Gary's message; which as he has often preached is about content.

    Awesome Gary...you rock. The article questions whether your fans will buy and read your books when you yourself claim to not be a big reader...you appeal to a wide user base...many of which are regular readers...I read 20-30 books a year, and yours will likely be included on my list. I have no doubt I'm not alone.

    This is such great news for authors as it turns the publishing paradigm on it's head! Most authors will chase agents and publishers, enduring rejections for sometimes years before perhaps getting a small advance.
    Gary has attracted this by having such a huge platform - and his example is one authors need to follow!
