The truth is harsh but speaks the loudest my friend. There is no easy quick fixes in this world. You have to get after it and scrape for every last penny or VIEWER in this case. But if you have GREAT content, the viewership will build on itself as well. As usual great post.

I've noticed that most self help books and business books tend to sell the illusion of quick and easy victories. "How to build a Fortune 500 company in just 10 minutes!" As a result, they tend to have the quality and insight of something scratched into the wall of a public restroom. I like that Gary does not sugarcoat things. If he wrote a business book, it would probably be called something like "The Long, Painful Road to Success". The title alone would scare most people off. But it would be worth reading.

I asked Gary this exact question the other day as I'm interested in starting a nursing blog about the day to day grind of nursing, but couldn't figure out a business angle to it that would someday make some moolah for the murseman!! His response, a one liner.. get in the blogs.. At first I was like, damn, see he is big time now and doesn't have time to answer emails anymore.. Then, a few seconds later, it all made sense.. So.. while I have NO CLUE what I am going to do, I at least know, its time to jump in the waters and swim with the fishes baby... coming soon to a nursing world near you!!

Gary..Scott here from Jersey. Caught onto you a few months back and have to say your my boy! You give me a ton of motivation in an industry that is so competetive. Ever since I saw your YouTube video about the Web 2.0 Expo NY, I've been glued to you. I love how straight forward you are and most of the advice you have to give is very useful. I meet with retailers right across from my office on a daily basis to get information on what they need help with the all ask for help with the basics and I always tell them to get in the trenches have been for years. It's so true. Nothing happens overnight. It's definitely helpful when someone who is "trusted" Tweets you or links you up on their blog, but you have to be able to back it up. Pumping out content is definitely the way to go.

I've had people visit my sites just because they've read my comments on other people's blogs and sites.

I'm actually getting ready to start a blog and web show (as soon as I finish a couple other projects), so if you have any other tips I'd love to hear them!
