Gary Vaynerchuk: Gary Vaynerchuk - I am really excited about the Vook and getting...

  • Tim Hashko · 1 month ago
    Gary,

This format - the Vook - is the most brilliant idea ever! I bought it as soon as I heard of it. And that's on top of the hard copy of the book that I had already purchased and read. I bought the Vook for the videos. I love the raw videos you put out, but I really appreciated the polished video stories that came with the Vook.

    Keep crushing it!

I really think vook and your work here is incredible. It made me stop in my tracks because of the potential I see it having in my own industry.
  • Ryan Graves · 1 month ago
Vook is going to be the new hottness.
  • dmgerbino · 1 month ago
Wow, I really like the vook take on books. Now I am pissed I bought Crush It, the old fashioned book back in May. I would rather have had the vook version. For those who really know how to use the technology, vook is the way to go. With 4G wireless on our doorsteps, apps like this will make a difference breaking away from the old way of doing things. All vook has to do is learn to embrace mobile (i.e. iPhone is not mobile, its a locked proprietary format) by making the web version mobile compliant as opposed to an iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Palm, Symbian, etc. platform versions - way too much work.
  • Daniel Crenna · 1 month ago
I like the idea but prefer the hardcover because I can take it anywhere and it's low glare and won't get me in trouble for always using my mobile device. I agree that the video content is a nice addition.
  • Darin Persinger · 1 month ago
I love the idea and the sample chapter we got to preview. i just need it on a Blackberry.
  • Erik Johnson · 1 month ago
i love it!! I hope you have invested in vook
  • jasonhawksworth · 1 month ago
I think it's great, especially linking specifics in the "vook" to the web. If you add extra content over time, it's completely worth purchasing even if you have the book. I bought it! One thing that would have been great is if you got if for iPhone as well as computer for same price.
  • vinnyohare · 1 month ago
Would rather hold the real book in my hand
  • Adrian Parker · 1 month ago
I found Vook a lot stickier than the usual way of presenting brochure content

    - but i'm waiting on the result of the Jets / Vikings game before I buy a copy ;-)
  • Paul Stamatiou · 1 month ago
I would actually enjoy it - I often flip through stuff on my iphone for 10-20 minutes or so before heading to sleep.
  • jeffrutherford · 1 month ago
I bought your book, and I bought this Vook for iPhone. I think you're definitely on to something with the Vook. However, I think there's going to be an education process.

You're basically expanding the boundaries of a typical book, by adding video elements. Once people see it, they get it.

But, currently, people aren't rushing out to buy a Vook. Hopefully you'll change that.
  • Darcy Voutt · 1 month ago
Looks pretty good. The iTunes app looks great, but unfortunately I'm a BlackBerry through and through business man. The Vook looks nice, is this something I have to use online?

Any thoughts on a BB app?
  • amyporterfield · 1 month ago
LOVE the Vook platform. Your video is outstanding and the ease of use of the whole experience is fantastic. Completely streamlined and interactive. LOVE IT.
  • Nick Hamze · 1 month ago
I love it very easy to use and much more fun than just reading alone
  • kienan · 1 month ago
    ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
  • Robert-Jon Eckhardt · 1 month ago
I think this is awesome and vook has the future.
I have it on iPhone and will be reviewing it soon.
  • giuseppetaibi · 1 month ago
pretty interesting concept. a fun way to access content online. I wish I could explore more before being blocked by the annoying popup that tells me "preview complete".
  • sullydude · 1 month ago
I just bought the Crush it! iPhone App! I bought the hardcover but just had to have it!
  • paryb · 1 month ago
It's an interesting platform...totally full of media, but I'm still kind of a purist, as others have said, I like to have the book in my hand...feel the pages. Strong work though.
  • Brent F. Barrett · 1 month ago
Yes, the vook is totally Bang Bang!
  • Ken Moorhead · 1 month ago
I agree with Daniel Crenna. As a platform, it's great. It's not my preferred method to *receive* content, but so far as putting it out there, it's awesome.
  • BizPhilosopher · 1 month ago
I think you're a pioneer. I love the vook concept - the multi-media book - but having bought the book I wouldn't spring for both. I still think I'd rather pay for the book. Perhaps bring out the book, and then after 6 month, bring out the vook at a much lower price point. But the multimedia has to be something new and interesting, of added educational value.
  • Ben Tremblay · 1 month ago
I like the thing, pretty interesting. I prefer a real book, but I mean for you it's a nice platform to promote your book because of the preview people can read and also the nice video. If it helps selling books, digital or hardcover, ...
  • daveconrey · 1 month ago
if I hadn't already bought it for the kindle, I would check out Vook for sure. I'll keep an eye out for other releases that interest me.
  • todd · 1 month ago
I think I like this better then the book. Your energy transmits much better via visual platforms and for me the message is more clear. Book is great reference material, but the vook is where I would feel more inspiration. nice job as always
  • JL Zoeckler · 1 month ago
I have enjoyed the vook, except for the technical difficulties and the necessity for me to have my computer on and connected to the internet (don't have an iphone yet). I don't know if I could own the vook without the book. I like to underline and write comments when I'm reading a book that is teaching me how to do something. The videos were enough of an added value that I could just consider crush it as a book/vook that costs $22. any chance they would be marketed together? I would have preferred to pay for both of them at once.

also, vook's customer service has taken 4 days so far and it is still unresolved why my login and password isn't working. my excitement for vooks wears off with each passing day.
  • Jonathan Nelson · 1 month ago
Gary I purchased the Vook and love it. I actually thought it was the entire book with a video excerpt at the beginning of every chapter LOL...that's how enjoyable it was.

The videos kept me reading in anticipation through each chapter.
  • Doug Cranmer · 1 month ago
I bought the book on Amazon, then I went and bought the app on the iPhone App Store. The videos bring the emotion, the drive, the "Thunder". Well worth me having two copies, one print, one electronic. Faster to get through it and the plus of the videos.

Smilar to other commenters, if I am getting ready to sleep, I'll read my iPhone; it doesn't keep my wife awake and I can work towards crushing it till my body drops. Keep up the good work!
  • Emmet Gibney · 1 month ago
I'm abroad working right now so I didn't have anywhere to get the book sent, and they don't speak english. This actually gives me a way to buy the book. Actually I just did... and for $11.99 it's a good deal because I get so much more than just the book.
  • @amaaanda · 1 month ago
    Big fan!

This is taking it to the next level when it comes to marketing...mobile is growing and getting your content into the hands of digital nomads everywhere is key...keep it up Gary! the Vook angle is a perfect fit and perfect platform!!! kudos! may want to get your other books mobile as well.
  • SeanDawes · 1 month ago
Really enjoyed it. Wished the videos were a little bit longer but none the less good stuff.
  • Salviss50 · 1 month ago
I liked the idea of video content & purchased it last week.

After reading the some of the vook I went back to reading the hardcover book as I found reading the pages of a book more to my personal preference.

    A couple of thoughts...

    1. If audio book was a third media included... it would be a complete package & could be offered as a premiuem offer.

    2. Since many people still like the experience of a book but like the video & audio content possiblities, perhaps have a special offer if you buy both... where you provide a tracking code (from the book) in the Vook payment section & you recieve a percentage off the cost of the Vook.

Or... You buy the "Premiuem Package Book" and in the book you have a code that allows you to access the "vook" . The cost of the premiuem package is higher than the book... but less than if you purchased both separtely.

    3. As already pointed out by others... the limitations of having to be online to read & watch the video is a draw back. It would be a more attractive offer to be able to download & watch where & when you are able... i-tunes compatabile video & audio would be a big win.

I realize these ideas do not fit the current format... just thinking what would be the ultimate product offering & content experience.

That being said... the concept of having a video to kick off each chapter helped for me to connect more with the author & the message. ( I learn & connect more by means of audio & visual inputs )

It was an interesting experience & I can see where it being on the i-phone is a great way to reference & get a quick hit!

    Keep on crush'in it dude!

I like the idea because I love options. I personally wouldn't use it because I do not like reading from a screen.
  • mariobox · 1 month ago
Vook is a great platform, but I believe most people still want the book as a 'souvenir'. Ideally both book and vook should be sold as a package.
  • chukwumaonyeije · 1 month ago
I purchased the book after hearing you on TWIST and reading about you in What Would Google Do. I'm not a wine drinker, but you have completely won me over based on your passion. Naturally, when I saw the option to get additional video content via Vook; I jumped at the opportunity. Many thanks.
  • Bart Ski · 1 month ago
Very Awesome Vook Gary. I just think that the swear words toward the end of chapter 1 was a bit too much (for other more serious/sensitive people, but perhaps they need to hear it; i'm cool with it). I'm from Chicago, Born in Poland, so It's awesome to see your European Hustle in action!
  • Ann Musso · 1 month ago
I love it. I think reading the book and hearing your feedback is great. Vook is the next "Kindle"... And I already have two copies of the hardcover book!
  • DoRu Catana · 1 month ago
gary it is awesome, but 1 thing sucks big time. I doesn't have the option to buy directly with paypal. This is a huge fail from them. Could you suggest adding a pay with paypal feature to them? I know your word will count more than mine :)

I really have to say 1 more time that the platform is awesome. this is the future of ebooks.

what a great idea, I only wish I would have known about the vook before I got the hard copy

I like it, I think it might work really well.
Nice gotta love the bleed out of your eyeballs
  • Steve Anderson · 1 month ago
    Hey Gary,

The Vook platform is awesome. Although I have your physical book I just couldn't help getting the Vook too!

So I come home after a great days work, cook a big juicy aussie steak and sit down with a bottle of 2007 Pinot Noir NS01 VIN DE PAYS D'OC (pretty good for 10 bones) and your Vook...what a way to finish the day.

I watched every video from start to finish. The quality is stunning and the way you weave your story into it is absolutely brilliant. I really loved the Video for CH 9 - The Best Marketing Strategy Ever and CH 13 - Legacy Is Greater Than Currency.

If people can produce Vooks using your standard as a benchmark than I reckon it will be a hit for sure.

I'll by more Vooks and today was the first I'd heard of them.

That is the coolest thing. I don't want a Kindle yet, but I can definitely see how this would be the ideal way of "reading" certain kinds of books. I've been resistant to the Kindle just because I don't like how the reading material is only licensed to you, and you can't share it like an old paperback. Oddly enough, in a world that is going more and more towards the social and sharing of media, the new way of reading books is actually LESS social. So what am I saying? I love the multimedia approach. What I'm still looking for is a way to "hand off" a new media book to a friend just like I would a paperback. You know?
  • RayZorback · 1 month ago
very cool. are you still paying $20 per wordy dird? cuz you dropped some serious bones to cut that preview!!

Are you going Kindle ebook too?
  • lindaablack · 1 month ago
i think you are on to something great! personally wouldnt use it but can see how lots of others will.
  • Caryl Scanlan · 1 month ago
Love it, and loved reading the book the first two times and now on the third.
  • burroboy · 1 month ago
The Vook is certainly an interesting value add in the process, but probably not a complete replacement for the physical book. The intro video was well done, and the quality was great...although I understand your passion, the f^@*ing language s&!t at the end lowered the IQ of the presentation.
    Crush on!

Great idea, and great price for it :)
  • Mario Vittone · 1 month ago
Alright, Alright, I bought it! Love it. But four print copies, the Kindle Edition, and now Vook is my limit! :)
  • Mike Stenger · 1 month ago
I caught a link you sent out the other day for the Vook version. That is some pretty epic technology in my opinion! Makes ebooks look like a friggin' postcard.

Btw, I'll be posting a video review here soon on Crush It. One word Gary: Awesomesauce :-)

Also, thanks for signing some copies of Crush It for Unstrappd.com. Actually won a copy yesterday! Now I'll give away my current copy to a friend (Will guard the other with my life, scouts honor)
  • chucklinn · 1 month ago
Gary: Vook is CRUSHING IT big time. When they finally get that you can get all the internet stuff on TV like you have been saying, this concept will rock. your favorite book, amgazine , journal that you can have the actual author speaking about it,kinda like the movies that have the directors version at the end and you see why they film a certain way.
  • Ben Lang · 1 month ago
I just wanted to give you a shoutout Gary. You are a remarkable blogger and a role model to me! Thanks so much!
  • aaronwulf · 1 month ago
    Gary,

That rocked! The intro video was super cool, and the format and layout of everything was very intuitive and easy to use. Keep up the great work!
  • Adam Teece · 1 month ago
It seems really cool, but I don't have an iPhone and I would want it portable so it isn't something I'm going to be getting. When you release the audible version though, I'm there.
  • skiplondon · 1 month ago
Dude, you know I think it is awesome because I sent you that screen shot! haha...

What is great about it is the video inlaid with the text to give you some motivation and background behind what you are reading.
  • Chad Egeland · 1 month ago
I think the Vook version is a great compliment to the hardcover version and am considering purchasing the Vook version simply for the added videos. Vook looks to be the logical progression of e-books and I look forward to seeing this company grow and expand their lineup of available Vooks.
  • David K · 1 month ago
Good idea in concept put it will not take off without some upgrades. Sometimes you are unable to connect to the internet rendering the vook useless, unless you could also download the pdf. I also want to be able to underline and bookmark.
  • Paul · 1 month ago
Like the Vook, engaging format, however I think over time I wouldn't enjoy using it on desktop/laptop - definitely put me down for one when Apple release a tablet.
  • Sven Trautwein · 1 month ago
Hi Gary, it's a brillant idea. We also mentioned it in our German blog http://www.blaetterrauschen.de/2009/11/04/vooks/

I quite like reading books on my iphone, and I'm not sure exactly what sort of different multimedia piece the Vbook brings into the equation, but it's a good move to take.

Personally I'm just worried that you pay $12 for a single application, and then I really can't do much with it. That's a problem with these different distribution channels more than one guy's decision, but so far I've limited my iphone reading to using something like the iphone Kindle app that we have in Canada, an app called "short covers".

That vook.com website though, even to look at the preview of the book was really really hard. I don't think it'll help people move towards buying the iphone vbook. Sorry to be a bit of a downer when it comes to this, but good on you for experimenting!
  • AndersN · 1 month ago
Well. First I've seen like a bokk and video combined on the net. Lots of book applicationas ans lots och video dito. Nice. But still, for me it cannot replace the book itself. Redaning on a screen is often bad for the thought process, you tend to scim and only look for the "conclusion" and then missing the context. Nice complement though
  • csharpe · 1 month ago
Looks great. Definitely makes the Kindle version feel like a rip-off.
  • David K · 1 month ago
Ok, I did end up buying it because it was only $7. It has a bookmark feature but no highlighting. I would say the sight is good accept my browser said the site was not secure and people could see the information, even on the credit card page. Hope nobody steals my cc numbers.
  • Kevin Bondelli · 3 weeks ago
I really like the Vook format, but I wish that you didn't have to choose web or iPhone. Instead of having to pay $7 for each there should at least be a combination price, for example $10 to have both options. That being said I went for the web version of Crush It.
