Are website ads, maintaining twitterfeeds, dropping Seismic comments unique and valuable? Absolutely. And they are underutilized. Definitely.

But TV, print, and all other media have a role to play. Whether its reaching more people in a specific period of time or associating a brand with a pop culture moment, or many other things

For example maybe Cartier sells 80% of its watches on 4 specific weekends. It could tolerate the inefficiency in targeting a print ad in SI for efficiently timing a message to half the men in this country with a glossy picture at the perfect time of year.

Maybe I'm Coke, and being part of the fabric of America is best articulated with entertaining everyone's family and friends while they are together during the Super Bowl.

Digital advocates say that if your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. I say even though you have all the tools, sometimes you use the new ones and sometimes you just need a fucking hammer.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Fowa 2009 Keynote

Some people may not like that, but I think this helps identify with you as just a regular guy, with awesome ideas.

I agree that people never lose pursuing their passion. If their goals do not work, people are still doing what they love, nonetheless. Furthermore, I like using hustling as a term not referenced as running the streets. Hustling is just showing that extra commitment to what one does. You are not afraid to go against the grain and that makes you who you are. Keep up the amazing work.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Fowa 2009 Keynote

The world is changing in all aspects and in business across every niche. The web in general and social media is a game changer and former gurus = "gurus of what was" are either losing their authority or stumbling into the game - cool. But anyone that wants to win here has to really break it down "social" + "media" Try using the technology without investing in relationships and it would be better if you never showed up.

Opportunity is everywhere!

The playing field is level - let's rock it!

James Holmes
http://www.Twitter.com/AskJ...

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Fowa 2009 Keynote

The part that really stuck with me was the "apologizing to myself" segment, because I have so many projects rolling around in my space that are half-done, conceptualized, done but not being paid enough attention, that I end up looking at "Well, what will pay right now?" and everything else gets shoved to a corner.

I thought about it and, if I stay home for one evening instead of going out with folks and buying dinner nearly every night, I can save enough time to complete practically one project a week.

Stay home and work, people!

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Fowa 2009 Keynote
