Found you when I was googling around.
I just wrote a little text about the problem that companies aren't listening anymore to consumers. And that it's a shame. Because they do have a voice that can be heard trough internet. And you CAN LISTEN TO THEM.
Because if you ignore people. I do believe they will ignore you in the end. End you end up loosing.
Brilliant!! You told it brilliant!! Better. Love it.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?

The brown tone is getting ho-hum...like an old leather lounge chair in someone's basement. Think of it like this...you sense flavors in everything you do, feel, touch. I sense the visual images. In the same way that you taste a rock - I smell the brown tones on your web sites. My visual palette craves as much as your taste palette. And my visual memory is equal to your taste memory (well, maybe not yours...). Feed the visual among us...and the rest will benefit, too.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?

I see a lot of "ego-searching" on Able Grape. Agreed, "caring" is cool, but not all ego-searching is necessarily caring.

When I see somebody dig deep into the results (far past their own site), or filter by blogs, then yes, there's someone who cares. And when I see that they query for other wine-related topics, then I think, "wow, there's someone who cares about their customers, and is actually passionate and curious about wine, too." There really are a few people like this, and it's great to see.

Sadly, though, I see a lot of "ego searching" on Able Grape that doesn't seem to be about keeping in touch with customers. People are often looking for their own sites, and just want to see if they're present and rank highly in searches. They come, they do one search for themselves, verify their presence or non-presence, and they go away (and then sometimes I get an email asking them to add me to the search engine). At least judging by their search behavior, I wouldn't say these people "care" either about their customers or about wine. It's a little disheartening, really!

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?

You've got a unique style and i'm going to keep reading through your site to find more cool posts. Love what you're saying here... but for those people/businesses who don't have the time or haven't put the time in to listen, what actionable steps would you put out there for them?

(thanks for reading my comment :)

cheers.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?

You're the "Tom Peters" of the internet. Getting noticed on the internet is "A Passion for Customers" while "Thriving on Chaos" (Peter's books). Caring IS the key. We were just talking about the importance of google/twitter searching and helping find anything from brand mentions to backhistory on a new date. While both are fun, tools like google alerts are extremely important from a brand perspective and should be checked almost as frequently as email!

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?

I recently got into wine, especially champagne. I'm 37 so I'm coming to it later than most but I am enjoying the bubbles and your daily wine episodes have been a blast. Now that I've been to your website I can say I also agree with your world view. Stay true to who you are and you can't go wrong! Do some shows on cavas, Spain just seems to be doing so many things right recently.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Ego Searching or Caring?
