Gary hits a home run again with his brilliant vision casting!

Here's an idea, come up with a show that comes up with ideas for shows, and sells them to people that can't come up with their own ideas! BOOYA...

1st time commenter, long time viewer. We actually met this past Tuesday night at the Mediabistro event. I asked what kind of wine is good for a girlfriend who doesn't drink it much. Anyway, I have that entire '91 Upper Deck set in a custom made hardwood case. The way this economy is going, the Griffey card is probably worth more than some stocks I own.

I like this. People can expand on this in their own areas of expertise. Instead of doing infoproducts than are flat and only communicate one way, you can definitely create a community around what you like. This would be great for building a community, as each episode would open up many angles for conversation. Take it up a step and build social networking into your site to leverage the community. Opens up even more sponsorship and revenue opportunities.

Great show gary. the main take-aways i got from this video:

- low up front cost (i'm not doing cards, but the idea that doing a daily passion tv show should have a low up front cost (or some way of making the topic of your discussion very affordable)) in other words, you might have trouble doing a show about Lamborghinis or Rolls Royces if you live in Tulsa, OK and drive a beat up Ford Pinto. :)
- sponsors & affiliate programs (w/ebay and others) as a way of monetizing the show

Love the idea! I think Gary should really do a sports related podcast at some point. He gets to many people in the chat trying to talk sports, that would be an incredibly interactive environment for him.

wonderful wonderful idea, shame I don't watch more sports or even baseball anymore.. my father bought me about 10,000 packs(boxes and boxes and boxes.. of packs) of baseball cards when i was little, and still have them.. could be supplied for life.... shoot me and email if want to see pictures or interested in using/buying them (anyone).. also hundreds of old old comics.. could be another good twist as all the comics i have are in boxes.. just randomly pull one out.. and talk about it.. love the idea

idea to add, would be great to have a separate camera with a close up shot (and perhaps a little stand for you to put the card on) so you could get a close, focused shot on the card.

Very cool idea, I can see something like this really working. Just think of all the sponsors one could hit up, sports drinks, beer companies, auto, and the list goes on. This could work with the right host.

I was a baseball card fan as a kid, but I haven't been into it in years. This got me really excited though.

I think a show like this could totally re-ignite the sports card industry (assuming it needs to be lit) and get people excited about it. Just as it would bring sports cards fans to video blogging, it could bring others to the cards. In short, it could change the Sports Card World.

I love watching anyone who is enthusiastic and passionate about what they are doing. If you are real and entertaining, I think people would watch for sure.

A great idea Gary! I appreciate how you walk through the steps to make it successful! You should take this idea and all of the other ones I'm sure you think up and either make an ebook or full book out of it all.

I really hope someone takes this idea and runs with it. I still have some valuable cards but haven't been into cards since grade school. However, hearing you explain the steps and idea makes me think that there are some other opportunities which would utilize the same tips/strategy. I want to do some research into these ideas to see if anything like this exists yet...hmmm

Gary, you rock! I'm not into cards, but I can really see potential for this kind of show. It's not just sports, you could open two decks of collectible card game like Magic the Gathering and play a game live.

On a side note, I noticed that this was the first video I watched on this site which ended with you smiling. Maybe you should stop talking about personal branding and hustle 2.0 and talk more about cards ;)

hey gary! you rock but I do think a lot of your business talk has been a lot of hot air. lot of general talk about big picture stuff (all love though).

I'm a nuts and bolts guy and you breaking down how you would go about an idea is great. Seeing how you would attack a specific idea is a great way to see you in action.

so go niche gary! talk about specific ways you would do stuff and people will get the big picture stuff on their own.

Keep it short (not an hour). Studies show significant viewer dropoff starting at 2:45 (less than 3 minutes).

Hey Gery!! Im new to the wine world and a new viewer to your show. I love it, so much info i didnt know about wines. Could you do a show on white zinfandel, thats my everyday wine and could use some info on that. The wine i drink is called Mad Housewife and is very enjoyable, sweet and inexpensive for the tough times. Maybe you could use it in one of your "on the cheap side" tasting showes. Cheers... Stacy

This is already being done on a number of websites across the sports card and memorabilia hobby. A lot of them are pretty bad,but they're everywhere. Most deal with new products (Gary, sorry to say the older stuff you've got there is was way overproduced and not worth much!).

The key, of course is to drive traffic to you amid all that competition.

I was at WalMart the other day exchanging a keyboard, and while waiting for the manager, found myself right next to the cards - baseball, football, YuGiOh, Pokemon, etc, etc

And who popped into my mind? Why you, of course! I was looking and thinking, and looking and thinking...

And then I saw a set of cards that I (and my daughter) would LOVE to do a show about and I started getting excited!

I'm not entirely certain it would work, as it is a micro-micro-niche - but, I just won't know until I try, will I? ;)

Will I/we owe you some kind of royalties if we take this into our FRENCH market (in Quebec, Canada) ??? This seems also like such an easy show to make and produce. Heading to the drawing board right now... ;-)
