Thats a huge point to make. I've talked to a lot of business people, and entrepreneurs who only care about their business. They don't get it. Relationships are everything in business, and business owners need to start trying to forge them with everyone.

BHAGs like meeting every person in the world are critical in business. People need to figure it out, and start talking to people.

I found your site from a link in an RSS feed email that I received from chrisbrogan.com today. I watched the video and wanted to say that your message is very profound. None of us want to talk about death but I think that you are so right. When I am on my death bed I hope that I can look back at things that happened to me in my life, to the people I met and to the lives that I might have touched in some small way. Life really is about people and the connections that we make, it's not about money and wealth. If that was the case why do so many celebrities fall into drugs and alcoholism? why do so many of them lose their way in life when they have all the money in the world?

This is something amazing... I was talking to my wife the other day about my goals and I told her the same thing that I want to meet as many people as I can and want to touch their heart in any possible way. I live in a modest house..drive old cars...have not had anything flashy or new and shiny in years..but i am so much happier without them....

I think you are dead on.

I have often thought that the stuff of life, the juice, the magic only exists in our relationships with others. The money or fame or toys are illusions that seduce us but never fulfill us. I struggle with this every day when I catch my self responding to "daddy play with me" with "not now I have work to do", or choosing to be alone vs. with friends and family.

Steven Covey (The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People) did a major study of what is referred to as death-bed literature. This is what people say and think when they are faced with their mortality and overwhelmingly they all talk about friends and family. No one talks about their bank account or business successes but focuses on their relationships.

I think it was Les Brown that said you can measure your impact on life by the number of people who would come to your funeral.

What you Give Away - You Get To Keep.

Connections lead to relationships -- Relationships give you the chance to empower and serve others.

What is strange... something that I have observed in dozens of Great Business Men from the past 100 years...

Is that in return for your service... The Universe has some freaky way of giving back to you - through your bank account.

So in an ideal way, I think you can have both -- digits of the heart, and digits in the bank.

Great advice! You should check-out Keith Ferrazzi's book - Never Eat Alone. (www.nevereatalone.com) His whole approach is that personal relationships and business relationships should not have a wall in-between them.
