Gary Vaynerchuk: Gary Vaynerchuk - A big idea I won’t be able to do… So here you go....

  • Jordan Drake · 1 year ago
Another awesome video Gary! - this is gonna be a huge deal if someone can pull it off - it's like woot.com meets ustream and every product blog you've ever read
  • Matt Secoske · 1 year ago
This is an awesome idea. You could even niche it out, say focus only on computer or exercise or kitchen (or or or ...) equipment that you personally try out on air... beautiful!
  • Jim "Genuine" Turner · 1 year ago
I volunteer to host! I think that sounds like so much fun!
  • MIke Andreano · 1 year ago
This is why I am affiliated with VMDirect - see webcast.andreano.com and click a past show. Adding a QVC shopping cart is a no-brainer.. this is big bucks potential people - mandreano@vmdirect.com

    LOVE "the BIG Play" Gary!

Such a great idea and am interested in moving it forward...

You're right in that all affiliate sites now are just mainly heavy text based...

    Whose in with me?
  • Lisa Marie Mary · 1 year ago
Once again - brilliant idea! I love it! You always get the gears in my head going like crazy! Thanks so much for that! :)
  • Jim "Genuine" Turner · 1 year ago
I'm in as long as I am not the "Brains" of the operation.
  • Malcolm Bryce · 1 year ago
"When you make a billi throw me a couple milli"
    Love it Gary!

There is a massive gap for that on the internet!
Once again, you've spoke and I've had an "Ahaa!" moment.
  • Greg_Cooper · 1 year ago
Wow...this is immense....and why couldn't it be niche marketed to 1000 different types of specialty businesses and their supporting vendors? Why couldn't it be geographical in nature? Hmm....better get my checkbook out for that GaryVee referral...
  • Davide Di Cillo · 1 year ago
awesome ideas as usual... i hope to be able to send you some "milly" soon...
  • iGoByDoc · 1 year ago
    Gary,

I like the idea! Been thinking something similar, not quite as grandiose as you just laid out. But hey, why not go bigger right? As you said, the costs are fairly low... hmm, mind is spinning.

    - Doc

FANTASTIC idea. I don't have the passion for this project but someone please do it!
  • Levi McCallum · 1 year ago
But Gary, it's not that easy for everyone to hit it big after a month like your ventures do. You really need to tell people _how to market_ once they have launched.
  • stevengrande · 1 year ago
The QVC, HSN, SHOPNBC audience is tens of millions strong. If you can get a small percentage of them to tune in to your webcast, the upside is huge!

I did on-air guest hosting for a now defunct channel called Shop@Home and I was selling to approx. 9.8 million viewers per taping. huge potential here...huge!
  • Travis Smith · 1 year ago
Dude, you wouldn't really need to be a baller to pull this off. Even a baller on a budget can do something similar. Start small, then ride the wave of success.
  • CR Tisdale · 1 year ago
I actually had a vaguely similar idea to this, but more product/genre specific. The cost of entry for my idea is slightly higher because of the niche I'm looking at, and I'm working on a way to bring that cost down, at least initially, until I can build the audience to justify the expense. If that makes any sense.

What you said here has me thinking even more seriously about that idea now. Hmm...
  • Justin · 1 year ago
    Gary,

I love hearing all these great ideas you come up with. Thanks for the shout out and of course the AWESOME idea for The Hockey Card Show. It's been great doing it and meeting tons of people in the process.

I think there is definitely some potential for easy revenue, but I think the appeal of the home shopping network is that it's geared towards people who generally are older and less tech savvy then most, everyone knows how to watch tv and make a phone call.
  • Bobby Bo · 1 year ago
Its true G, there is a billy in that one. Just need to right on screen personality and the right backup crew. There are a lot of jokers out there. Anyone interested? Im free in Jan. :)
  • Susan · 1 year ago
Gary, I agree so far!!! NEVER WATCH ur own press!!!!!!!!!!!! You are always on the cutting edge!!!!!!!!!!! :)
  • Milos · 1 year ago
And they are off to the races! :) All that is left now is to see who will emerge victorious. Great business idea my friend.

Hope your Thanksgiving was peaceful and full of happiness (minus the "minor" Jets upset). Have a nice day!
  • Susan · 1 year ago
EXCELLENT idea!!!! Killler idea!!!!!!!!!! THANKS GARY!!!!!! :)
  • Ambrosia · 1 year ago
Definitely a fantastic idea, I hope that whoever does it does indeed give you credit. I'd be on top of it if I didn't already have an idea of my own, and if I had some money haha.
You've done well as always, maybe you really are an alien. O.o
  • steve garfield · 1 year ago
I would love to do this, combining my love of evaluating new technical products and sharing my views.

Chris Pirillo is doing something like this.

Check this video blog post on 'Lighting for Video: Lowel Tota Light Kit'

    http://blip.tv/file/1526728

It's got a little bit of instruction and I include Amazon links to click and buy.

    Cool?
  • Matt · 1 year ago
    Awesome idea,

Like the other posters I also like the idea of getting into a niche. But, having a network that was the same for all types of products might be a better idea for consumers to start to feel comfortable with the idea.
  • Ari Herzog · 1 year ago
I like big ideas, but why not start small and work it bigger over time? No sense investing the moolah if it dies.
  • Rob LaFave · 1 year ago
This seems very similar to the concept of Shopflick. They're doing a great job of allowing sellers to feature various products through video. Check 'em out... shopflick.com
  • Deano · 1 year ago
Gary another great idea for sure.....you could make a ton of money doing this :)
  • John - Spa, Salon Marketing Gu · 1 year ago
    Hey Gary...

Sounds like a great idea. Back it up by going to a site like worldwidebrands.com and source product on your own and create specific niche markets...

    Cheers,

    John
  • Esteban G. · 1 year ago
I think this would only work if either you or the guy that yells at people (you know the "YOU NEED THIS NOW, the guy with the beard) do it. I don't think anybody else doing it would be as successful as you or that guy.
  • Stafford Thompson · 1 year ago
I have been in radio for 26 years, and excel with remote broadcasts. This is something I could do! I've even thought of applying at QVC or HSN. I think I could pull this off! If you have the capitol, let me know!
  • Chris Hadley · 1 year ago
This is a great idea. There are so many niche markets that could really score from this as well. You could have a Tech TV meets Revision3 meets QVC/HSN in the tech spectrum.

I have done a few reviews on my blog but my equipment is very inferior and I am a one man operation. I would need more people to pull something like this off but I think it could be huge.

This could be a great and inexpensive way for new product to get out there. Just look at the AeroPress coffee maker I reviewed on my blog. That could really benefit from a large online audience!

    Now the gears are turning...
  • Matt | Small Biz Bee · 1 year ago
Another good example of how great biz ideas can be right in front of your face, you just need to be a person who can see the forest for the trees in order to capitalize.

    Thanks GV!

You know, the best part of this video was when you said "When you make a billy, throw me a hundred milly."

Additionally, I totally agree that this is a great idea - so who is stepping up?
  • Walt · 1 year ago
There's a new site doing something pretty similar, with some pretty impressive technology in their videos...check it out: http://videogiftguide.com/
  • Patrick Yee · 1 year ago
At Shopflick, we've created the first video-driven marketplace which has grown to over 100K uniques since going public in Aug 2008. Check us out at http://www.shopflick.com.
  • ierict · 1 year ago
Yep that's a winner for sure!! I am surprised Justin.tv or someone else like that hasn't done it already. Love to hear back from anyone that took Gary's idea and ran with it.
  • Daniel Kemp · 1 year ago
You could probably just do three people. Everyone is a host and can show products.

So you got two people on video; 1 Host, 1 Shower. Your other person is preparing the next product to show. When the first Shower is done, they become the host, and the other person comes on and Shows. The first guy who was the Host prepares to Show a product. And just do that during the day.
  • Simon Harrow · 1 year ago
What a great idea - there is some superb technology to support a concept like this! Get the right person or team and job done.
  • David Dadekian · 1 year ago
It's so funny what time can do. This is a great idea today. A fantastic idea, thank you, Gary. I worked on something very similar, with even a live auction element added to it. All e-commerce with streaming video. This was in 1998. Lewis Black was one of the hosts (incredibly gracious and fun to work with). Funny what ten years will do to technology now. Thanks again, Gary.
  • Cris Cohen · 1 year ago
It's funny when you compare presentations like this to the ones the auto industry executives are making before the government. Compared to Gary, those guys have the vision and communication skills of a toilet plunger.
  • BJ Kochendorfer · 1 year ago
    All I can say is........brilliant!
I just met you today. A fan forever.
Thanks for your passion and commitment.
  • Natasha Wescoat · 1 year ago
brilliant concept! I've been doing an art auction show live on justin.tv, and have had a great response to it. Something noone has done. I'm suprised noone's done a live shopping show.

    Not a bad idea.
  • Elizabeth Kaylene · 1 year ago
Why hasn't someone else done that already? I would love to do something like that but unfortunately don't have the time.
  • artcola · 1 year ago
They've done it, and done it well, I mean really well.

    http://videogiftguide.com/
  • Shauna Nicholson · 1 year ago
Great idea. I love conceptualizing on affiliate sites. I think the kicker for this--and why some people might fail--is that the host will inevitably have to be female AND know how to tap that *older* market. Set it up and market accordingly and you're golden.
  • Phil Schafer · 1 year ago
    Hey Gary,
    Fantastic Idea. Thanks!
  • AT · 1 year ago
    @artcola
That is hardly done well. Its static, and oddly boring. Not very personal.

I like the idea, but its not really new. its a hard one to start. Hard to gain daily viewers. But doable.
  • mikek · 1 year ago
I would never want to be a part of any club, that would allow ME to be a member...Groucho Marx...

Great idea: needs the right bunch of peeps, with the nessissary skill sets! Good luck...waayyyy past my prime!
  • me · 1 year ago
How does this idea compare to QVC's online Live Stream???
    http://www.qvc.com/onair/liveshow.aspx?rewrite=no
  • Shawn_944 · 12 months ago
Sweet Idea GV.... you need to speak on the Don't read your own press... I have never heard that before... explain...
  • J Crazy · 12 months ago
Keep bring the thunder in so many different areas.
  • Scott Prock · 11 months ago
Brilliant idea!! Something to keep in mind for those who are considering this ... It will work best live, and with limited quantities of product. That is one of the key pieces that make QVC so successful.

The viewers don't want to miss out, they see a great deal, great price and they know if they wait too long it will sell out.

I'll keep an eye out for this one ... Scott
  • Ian · 11 months ago
I am forever having fantastic ideas like this, but for the most part I don't have the time to follow them up, right now I'm trying to offload some my best paid work to someone else so that I have time to invest in bigger and better ideas.
  • Nembrotha · 11 months ago
One grade A, First Class dumb fuck idea. The reason QVC works is because their key audience is 45-65 year old women home alone during the afternoon/early evening who want the opportunity to feel "connected." There is a bus. school case written up exactly about this (defines the audience, success criteria, etc.)

This audience will not (don't) sit at home looking at web sites on their computers...

I really enjoy your Web site, Gary, and everything you do to promote wine as something everyone can enjoy. I've mentioned you several times on my blog. Happy New Year!
